This spring, we’ve been watching the runways to spot the hottest men’s accessories trends for 2023, and here’s what we found.
If you’re looking to add a little oomph to your outfit – without splurging on an entire new set of clothes – here are 5 trends in accessories you can easily add to your wardrobe.
Statement belts
A belt is a classic accessory, and there’s a good chance you have one in the full range of traditional colors: that is to say, black, brown and beige – blue if you’re particularly adventurous with men’s accessories.
But things are getting fresh this spring, and it may be time to refresh your wardrobe with a hot trend in men’s accessories: statement belts.
Big, loud, bold and colorful belts have been dominating at mega fashion houses’ runway shows for the season, including at Louis Vuitton and Versace.
Whether its bright colors, bold patterns or even literally charming, charm embellished belts, belts are a great and understated way to add a pop of playfulness and color to your outfit.
All Kinds of Ties
Ties aren’t just for the workplace anymore – or perhaps a few years of working from home has created a certain nostalgia for formal attire – because ties have dominated on runways this season.
Skinny ties, patterned ties, prep school pastel ties – there’s room for them all this spring. Whether you prefer understated, classic with a modern twist inspired by pastels seen at Canali’s, or bold and overstated patterns like those displayed at Moschino, there’s a tie for everyone this season.
Match them with striped shirts for a more formal look, like seen at Kenzo, or make a bold statement by pairing them with high waisted pants (or even tuck them in to aforementioned high-waisted pants like at Dolce and Gabbana).
Whichever way you wear it, a tie is a must have statement piece for Spring 2023.
Understated Bracelets
Men’s jewelry is one of the hottest trends on the runway this season – and one of the must have trends for this spring.
As gender neutral jewelry becomes more popular, brands like Hermès, Burberry and Dior have all been accessorizing their male models for day to day wearable looks with more subtle details that underscore rather than distract from the rest of the outfit.
One thing that we’re starting to see a lot more of is a range of bracelets for men, with a particular focus on custom bracelets as personalized jewelry to provide a touch of elegance becomes ever more important. Whether a metallic and luxurious looking piece to pair with a suit and tie; or a macrame or bead bracelet to suit a comfy and casual style, bracelets are the perfect way to add a little edge to your outfit.
And you don’t have to restrict yourself to just one bracelet: stack thin cord and beaded bracelets and beaded bracelets on the same wrist, but don’t wear more than one big metal band. If you do go for multiple bracelets, wear them on the same wrist.
Sunglasses
As the long cold lonely winter fades, and the sun comes out again, there’s one accessory that’s a classic for every spring: sunglasses. Each year, styles for sunglasses make a debut on fashion runways, but the effect is far from monotonous.
Each year has its particular take, and in 2023, there’s a couple of trademark looks that are dominating runways. One of this year’s hottest trends is set to be angular sunglasses. This trend was seen on many runways this season, most notably at Givenchy as they debuted their “G-Cut” sunglasses.
Another trend this season is set to be retro-shaped 70’s reminiscent sunglasses, like those seen at the Allesandro Michele x Harry Styles collection for Gucci. So look beyond classic aviators and wayfarers and don’t hesitate to go big and go bold; this year’s men’s sunglasses are all about interesting shapes and statement sunnies.
Bucket Hats
Still on the subject of the sun, there’s one other accessory you need that’s as much about protecting your skin as it is about fashion: a hat.
A stylish vacation accessory, hats are a must have for your spring wardrobe as you venture into the sun again (and let’s be honest, most likely forget to wear your sunscreen).
The hottest trend this spring in hats has undoubtedly had one clear winner: the bucket hat, seen at fashion houses like Hermès and Fendi.
Comfortable and casual – but always elegant – bucket hats are a perfect complement to a range of outfits, whether you’re dressing for a hike or for a casual brunch out with friends.
