On behalf of UGC, the Central Board of Secondary Education announces holding of the National Eligibility Test (NET) from 6th to 11th October 2021 for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian Universities and Colleges. CBSE will conduct NET in 84 subjects at 91 selected UGC NET Examination Cities spread across the country.
The role of CBSE is only up to the conduct of the UGC NET Examination and declaration of result. The e-certificates to qualified candidates are issued by UGC Bureau. So the candidates declared they qualified in NET are informed to contact Head, UGC Bureau, University of Delhi, South Campus, Benito Juarez Marg, New Delhi, Pin Code-110021, Phone No. (011-24116316, 24115416, 24115419).
As per the latest media reports, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to revise the National Eligibility Test (NET) syllabus for the first time in the last ten years. For the same, UGC has set up 25 committees to revise the UGC NET syllabus for different subjects. However, since UGC NET is conducted for 90 subjects, more committees are likely to be set up to cover all subjects.
Currently, all committees are in the process of preparing the draft syllabus for different subjects. Once prepared, the draft UGC NET syllabus will be sent for approval to the council. Once approved, the decision will be taken on when to implement the revised syllabus.
The decision of revising the UGC NET syllabus has been taken by UGC to reflect changes in what is being taught in different universities and colleges. The decision has also been taken to ensure that the revised syllabus meets the current requirement of higher education.

According to UGC NET Syllabus, the candidates with a Master’s Degree in Geography (with specialisation in Population Studies) or Mathematics/ Statistics are also eligible to appear in the subject Population Studies (Code 15).
- The candidates with Master s Degree in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences are eligible to appear in subject Women Studies (Code 74).
